Chicago area radar show a large area of rain and thundershowers in northwest and north central Illinois moving northeast toward Chicagoland [LIVE RADAR]. More severe weather may be headed toward Rockford. Rain should begin in Schaumburg by about 9:50 a.m. and Arlington Heights by about 10:00 a.m.
Satellite images show all of northern Illinois under thick clouds. We probably won’t see much of a decrease in clouds until after midnight.
There is a chance of thunderstorms throughout today and through tomorrow morning. Rainfall amount today is expected to be about one-quarter inch between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 a.m. Friday.
Torrential downpours are possible tonight with cloud-to-ground lightning. No severe alerts exist as of 9:30 a.m. Thursday.
