CNN’s Laurie Segall shows the ways hackers from Syria or other hostile organizations could strike at the U.S. electronically.
The US Department of Homeland Security reminds us that the nation’s critical infrastructure relies heavily on the Internet for everything from submitting taxes, to applying for student loans, to following traffic signals, to even powering our homes. Can you imagine our lives without the Internet?
As of September 7, 2013, the NCSAM Homeland security page is not updated for 2013. The page still reports last year’s highlights. In 2012 there was a specific emphasis for each week.
Week One Emphasis
General cybersecurity awareness and the Stop.Think.Connect.™ Campaign
Week Two Emphasis
Law Enforcement and Cybersecurity. Focuses on national and local efforts to prevent identity theft and other cyber crimes.
Week Three Emphasis
Industry Efforts in Cybersecurity. Strategies and tools businesses of all sizes – including small business – can use to bolster their own cybersecurity defenses.
Week Four Emphasis
K-Life: Digital Literacy Efforts. The urgent need to develop cyber education programs to train the next generation cyber workforce.
Apparently, K-Life means Kindergarten education to life education, but the Homeland Security page doesn’t specifically define K-Life.
