At about 11:30 a.m. Monday September 16, 2013 Comcast had a wide area outage that included north Arlington Heights and Palatine. Customers reported no Internet and no television in north Arlington Heights. The service was restored sometime late Tuesday afternoon.
Comcast customer service telephone lines were overloaded, and there were several disconnects reported after people selected phone menu items, only to eventually hear a fast busy signal. One outgoing recording stated that no customer service reps were available, and that the caller would be transferred to an account representative. After waiting, customers reported either getting the fast busy signal, or getting connected to a representative that didn’t seem to know what was happening.
Comcast reported they had a wide area outage with reports coming in about 1:20 p.m. They were not specific about the outage — merely saying it was a wide area outage surrounding Arlington Heights.
Comcast had no updates on their social media accounts for Facebook or Twitter.
