Vehicle Burglary at IHOP Parking Lot on East Golf Road, Arlington Heights
Arlington Heights police received a report about 11:13 PM Friday of a vehicle burglary at the IHOP parking lot, 31 East Golf Road Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report that an offender attempted to burglarize a vehicle, but stopped when he realized the victim was in the back seat of the vehicle.
A 20-year-old female went to pick up someone in the restaurant, but wasn’t feeling well and laid down in the back seat of her silver 2003 Pontiac Grand Am. She was awakened when her driver’s side window was shattered. She awoke to see the offender put his upper body in the vehicle.
When the offender saw the victim, he fled — running to a white SUV, and driving away.
It appeared he was attempting to steal a purse, which was on the front passenger seat.
The offender was described as a male/black subject, about 25 -years-old, wearing a white t shirt, He had a towel wrapped around his hand — apparently to avoid cutting his hand with the broken glass. He also was described as having collar- length dreadlocks.
Nothing was taken from the vehicle, and nobody was hurt.
The crime is reported to have occurred just before 11:13 p.m. Friday, August 16, 2013.
