UPDATE 10:45 PM: The stronger thunderstorm activity is moving southwest of Arlington Heights. Suburbs likely to be hit the hardest are Elgin, South Elgin, Bartlet, southwest Hoffman Estates, southwest Schaumburg, Carol Stream, Bloomingdale, Wheaton and some suburbs southwest of mentioned suburbs.
Weather radar [LIVE RADAR] shows a line of storms developing at a diagonal across McHenry County, heading from northwest to southeast. A few thunderstorms are expected within the next hour. Frequent lightning, torrential downpours and wind gust to about 40 mph are possible. Some strong storms are possible overnight. Less than one-half inch of rain expected.
