Northwest Community Healthcare (NCH) is among a group of hospitals and healthcare systems that have made great strides in establishing the basic building blocks for creating robust clinical information systems aimed at improving patient care. In a national survey published in the July issue of Hospitals & Health Networks magazine, NCH was named one of the nation’s Most Wired hospitals in 2013.
According to the survey, the nation’s Most Wired hospitals are adopting technologies to improve patient documentation, advancing clinical decision support and evidence-based protocols, reducing the likelihood of medication errors and rapidly restoring access to data in the case of a disaster or outage.
At NCH, innovative health IT solutions have automated and integrated clinical, patient safety and administrative functions within the Arlington Heights-based hospital and at NCH’s outpatient facilities and at NCH Medical Group offices.
“At NCH, we know that healthcare must be connected and continue wherever the patient is – whether that is in the hospital, the doctor’s office or in the home,” said George Morris, Vice President of Information Technology at NCH. “It’s an honor to be recognized nationally, for the second year in a row, for our technology accomplishments.”
