Dick Van Dyke has escaped unharmed after his car burst into flames while he was driving in Los Angeles. A short video of the wreckage was posted on Twitter by Van Dyke’s wife, Arlene. Some off-duty nurses stopped to help them when the saw the actor slumped over the steering wheel.
According to TMZ, a Good Samaritan came to Dick Van Dyke’s rescue just before Van Dyke’s Jaguar, which was pulled over on the 101 Freeway in Calabasas, burst into flames. Dick Van Dyke was pulled from his smoking Jaguar, which later became fully engulfed with flames. Two nurses, who were passersby, also helped rescue Dick Van Dyke.
Two eastbound lanes of the 101 Freeway were blocked during firefighting operations and vehicle recovery.
Initial video just before rescue as apparent passerby/Good Samaritan rescued Dick Van Dyke.
Police say the Jaguar may have had a flat tire before the fire started, but the right front tire where the fire appears to have started, does not appear to be flat early in the video directly above.
