Erin McLaughlin reports on a shipwrecked couple who put their dog’s safety before the wife’s safety.
According to an incident report from The National Sea Rescue Institute, Graham Anley first swam the couple’s dog to shore before returning for his wife, whose safety line had become snagged on the steering gear. His action to save their Jack Russell Terrier “Rosie” first was the request of his wife Sheryl Anley. their ship met rough waters and ran aground off the course of South Africa.
The National Sea Rescue Institute Station Commander Geoff McGregor explained the Sheryl “insisted that Graham take the dog to the beach and then come back to help her. By the time Graham got back to assist her she had cut herself free and then they both came back to the beach.”
