Michael Brandon Hill, who said he doesn’t care if he dies, and has nothing to live for, entered Ronald E. McNair Discovery Learning Academy in Decatur, Georgia with an assault rifle and other weapons Tuesday, fire shots, spoke with the school’s bookkeeper, before surrendering.
The school’s bookkeeper had contact with the offender and spoke calmly to convince the gunman to put down his weapons and ammunition.
“I told him, ‘OK, we all have situations in our lives,” she said. “It was going to be OK. If I could recover, he could, too.”

More than 800 students in pre-kindergarten to fifth grade were evacuated from Ronald E. McNair Discovery Learning Academy in Decatur, a few miles east of Atlanta. The school had numerous security features in effect, but somehow Michael Brandon Hill entered the school.
No injuries were reported.
