Truck fire from IDOT cameras on I-290/IL 53 with Schaumburg Fire Department on the scene (IDOT camera).
Schaumburg firefighter/paramedics and Illinois State Police responded about 9:55 AM Wednesday to a truck fire in the left shoulder of Route 53, just south of Higgins Road Road. 42.03609,-88.030788. Schaumburg firefighters responded with a ladder truck, an engine and a squad, and a battalion chief.
The fire took just over 20 minutes to extinguish. There was no word available on any hazardous materials or if any cargo was burning.
Heavy black smoke was initially reported to be coming out of the truck.
No injuries were reported, and no word on the cause of the fire has been released.
All lanes of Route 53 were closed for about one hour.
