The Prospect Heights city council approved a request from Prospect Heights Police Chief Jamie Dunne on Monday to fund a $71,000 video surveillance camera system outside apartment buildings on the northeast area of Prospect Heights. Cameras will be installed at four apartment complexes in an area bordered by Milwaukee Avenue, Apple Drive, Plaza Drive and Palatine Road.
A camera already exists at the west side of the intersection of Apple Drive and Burning Bush Drive within the boundaries of the new cameras.

Approximately $30,000 from the general fund will be added to money acquired through drug arrests and money previously approved for cheaper, less-effective cameras.
Xtivity Solutions of Elmhurst will provide equipment and installation of the equipment.
