INCLUDING THE CITIES OF…WAUKEGAN…WHEATON…CHICAGO
431 AM CDT WED JUL 17 2013
HOT AND HUMID WEATHER WILL CONTINUE OVER THE MIDWEST THROUGH THE
REMAINDER OF THE WORK WEEK…THANKS TO A PERSISTENT AREA OF HIGH
PRESSURE STALLED ACROSS THE REGION. HIGHS WILL BE IN THE LOW TO
MID 90S TODAY AND THURSDAY…WITH AFTERNOON HEAT INDEX VALUES NEAR
100 DEGREES. A WEAK AFTERNOON LAKE BREEZE MAY KEEP AREAS ALONG THE
SHORE A LITTLE COOLER TODAY…LIMITING HIGHS THERE TO THE UPPER
80S AND A HEAT INDEX AROUND 95. NO LAKE COOLING IS EXPECTED
THURSDAY OR FRIDAY HOWEVER…WITH AFTERNOON HIGHS EXPECTED TO
REACH THE MID 90S IN MANY SPOTS AROUND CHICAGO AND HEAT INDEX
VALUES BETWEEN 100 AND 105 DEGREES. TEMPERATURES IN THE CITY WILL
LIKELY REMAIN IN THE 80S MUCH OF TONIGHT AND THURSDAY NIGHT…
PROVIDING LITTLE RELIEF FROM THE HEAT. RELIEF WILL ARRIVE LATE
FRIDAY HOWEVER…AS A COLD FRONT APPROACHES FROM THE NORTHWEST
BRINGING THE POTENTIAL FOR SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS TO PARTS OF
THE AREA…FOLLOWED BY COOLER AND LESS HUMID WEATHER OVER THE
WEEKEND.
