Paramedics walk a man to an ambulance on Belmont Avenue at Miner Street.
Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 12:50 PM Monday to a report of an intoxicated man in the northwest corner of Recreation Park at Miner Street and Belmont Avenue Arlington Heights, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics arrived to find a highly intoxicated male in his late 50s or early 60s. The man denied being intoxicated and put up a little resistance with police. Witnesses said the man was barely able to walk, and at one point stumbled to the ground in the park.
First responders determined the man was unable to care for himself because of apparent intoxication. Paramedics transported the man to Northwest Community Hospital.
The incident occurred while the park is being prepared for Frontier Days — Wednesday July 3, 2013 through Sunday July 7, 2013.
Vagrant complaints related to intoxication and disturbances are common at Recreation Park, North School Park, and the downtown Metra train station. Highly intoxicated vagrants are commonly transported in Advanced Life Support class rescue ambulances from Arlington Heights Fire Department from these locations.
