A video of the Oklahoma tornado near El Reno, captured by Greg Johnson. We were on this storm from birth, watching as it rapidly turned into a wedge and we got a little too close. Everyone on the team is fine with some minor damage done to “Flash” the Tornado Hunter truck (See also TornadoHunter.com).
MULTI-VORTEX TORNADO VIDEO: On May 31, 2013, storm chasers Dave Demko and Heidi Farrar documented a large multi-vortex tornado southwest of El Reno, Oklahoma. The tornado eventually morphed into a violent wedge as it made a hard turn toward the northeast, where it impacted areas along Interstate 40 between El Reno and Yukon, and later continued causing damage as it moved into the southern Oklahoma City metro area.
Incredible birth of the violent El Reno wedge tornado. As the tornado touched down, it produced a rare display of suction vortices. The whole story will be featured on the upcoming 2013 season of Tornado Chasers on http://tvnweather.com/ondemand.
Storm Chaser Jeff Piotrowski holds the nation on the edge of their seats as he streams LIVE via his ChaserCam™ Live Streaming video of the El Reno storm that produces a 3/4 mile wedge tornado and then rockets across I-40 into Oklahoma City. The Oklahoma City suburb of Moore was just devastated by an EF-5 on May 20, 2013 and now this! “We’re gonna die” video: Brett and Brandon got extremely close to a violent tornadic circulation that produced multiple tornadoes in very close range… The team was hit by inflow jet winds into the tornado and their vehicle received damage as a barn was completely destroyed. A hay bale came barreling across the road and was tossed into their car.. The team is very fortunate to live to chase another day… Incredible storm chaser traffic prevented an escape from the tornado like normal.. There have been fatalities with this tornado.. The team’s thoughts go out to those affected!
Later Sullivan reported that the tornado went from heading due east to making a right turn and heading in a southwesterly direction.
