Tornado Watches have been issued for Kane County and McHenry County. Severe Thunderstorm Warnings have also been issued in areas west of Interstate 39. A severe thunderstorm has developed and is heading toward Rochelle and DeKalb at about 3:45 p.m. The storm approaching DeKalb, which has caused a Tornado Warning to be issued, is on a path toward Hoffman Estates, Schaumburg, Arlington Heights, Palatine, Rolling Meadows, Barrington, and Long Grove.
A funnel cloud was sighted near DeKalb at about 4:30 p.m.
Another severe thunderstorm cell and line is forming just west and southwest of Rockford, Loves Park, and Machesney Park at about 3:45 p.m. This storm cell has also turned more toward the east and is more likely to track toward Arlington Heights than the southern cell that was in DeKalb.
The most severe weather is expected along the Surface Boundary, which at about 2:30 p.m. was stalled on a line from the City of Chicago to Dubuque.
