NASCAR driver Jason Leffler died after an accident Wednesday night in a dirt car event at Bridgeport Speedway in Sweedsboro, New Jersey.
New Jersey State Police confirmed Jason Leffler, 37, was operating a Sprint Car when he struck a wall. He had to be extricated from the car.
Authorities say the Leffler was transported to Crozer-Chester Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Bridgeport Speedway officials immediately suspended racing for the remainder of the night after Leffler’s accident. The racecourse was a 0.625-mile, high-banked dirt oval.
