New Orleans police say that a dozen people have been shot during a Mother’s Day second-line parade. Police Superintendent Ronal Serpas told reporters at least 12 people were shot during the parade in the city’s 7th Ward.
New Orleans police responded to a shooting at a second-line of a parade in the 1400 block of Frenchmen Street near the intersection of North Villere Street. Ten men, seven women, and a boy and a girl were injured.
About 12 people were injured by gunshots and one person was injured falling in the mob.
Police believe three offenders with two weapons, who were seen fleeing the scene, but only was one was described early in the investigation — a male/black between 18 and 22 years old with short hair, wearing a white shirt and blue jeans.

The Second line is a tradition in brass band parades in New Orleans, Louisiana. The “main line” or “first line” is the main section of the parade with the members of the actual club with the parade permit, including a brass band. People who follow the band to continuously enjoy the music are called the “second line.”
