Video of explosion with second explosion down the street also heard.
Explosion at about 2:45 p.m. outside Marathon Sports on Boylston Street, according to WBZ-TV’s Lisa Hughes, who was near the scene covering the marathon.
Two incredibly powerful explosions about 100 yards apart and detonated about 15-20 seconds apart were assumed to be bombs early in the incident.

Early on, some people were reportedly missing limbs. Video showed others with blood on their faces and blood on the sidewalk.
One witness reported seeing debris like shotgun shells or “ball bearings” — causing suspicion that explosive devices were rigged with harmful material to cause maximum damage or injury.
