Rash of Criminal Damage to Property and Vehicles in Arlington Heights; One Known Case in Rolling Meadows

One of many coach lights that was damaged over the recent final weekend in March 2013 — mostly on the north side of Arlington Heights (See 44 photos).

Arlington Heights police received at least 10 reports of criminal damage to property and vehicles over the weekend in a rash of crimes possibly by the same offenders.

Unknown offender(s) dented the hood, broke off both side view mirrors and cracked the windshield on a black 2000 Pontiac Bonneville (unknown damage estimate) while it was parked in the 700 block of North Gibbons Avenue. The crime is reported to have occurred on Saturday March 30, 2013 at 4:00am when the homeowner heard banging noises and yelling. The homeowner also saw four youths running around a minivan in the middle of the street at that time.

Also, unknown offender(s) used an unknown object to damage the light posts in the front yards (damage estimate $300) in the 1000 block of N. Gibbons Avenue. The crimes are reported to have occurred between Friday March 29, 2013 at 11:00pm and Saturday March 30, 2013 at 7:00am.

Also, unknown offender(s) damaged an electric light pole (damage estimate $500) in the 1100 block of N. Walnut Avenue in the front yard. The crimes are reported to have occurred between Friday March 29, 2013 at 11:00pm and Saturday March 30, 2013 at 7:00am.

Unknown offender(s) damaged light posts (damage estimate $1,800) in the front yards in the 1200 block of N. Vail Ave, in the 1500 block of N. Highland, and in the 700 block of W. Maude. These crimes are also reported to have occurred between Friday March 29, 2013 at 11:00pm and Saturday March 30, 2013 at 7:00am.

Unknown offender(s) damaged the solar lamp and post (damage estimate $50) in the 800 block of North Chestnut Avenue. The crime is reported to have occurred between March 27, 2013 at 10:00 pm and March 28, 2013 at 7:00 a.m.

A side mirror was also damaged in the 1400 block of North Ridge Avenue, but it is not confirmed if the crime was reported to the police. The damage occurred to a white sedan parked in the street.
