An off-duty Philadelphia poilce officer was stabbed during during a robbery about 10:00 p.m. Monday in the 4800 block of Grant Avenue near Holy Family University in Northeast Philadelphia.
Police report two men struck the 28-year-old two-year veteran police officer in the head and stabbed hime twice in the abdomen. The offenders took his Apple iPhone and cash, then fled.
A description was available of only one of the offenders — male/white, about 5’11” to 6′ tall, with a scruffy beard and wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt.
Police are checking security camera images in the area.
Northeast Philadelphia, or “Northeast Philly” is now both racially and ethnically diverse and has a large immigrant population, after being mostly white, middle class in the 1980s.
