KVAL VIDEO: Two daughters in Western Oregon saved their father from an overturned tractor. The girls lifted the tractor enough to help their father breathe, until help arrived.
Hannah and Haylee Smith, 16 and 14 respectively, had just come home from school when they heard cries for help from their father, Jeff Smith. Miraculously, they lifted a 3,000 LBS tractor off their father after they called 9-1-1. The tractor had flipped over backwards and trapped their father Jeff Smith. The force was strong enough to bend the tractor’s steering wheel.
To complete the lift, the sisters each grabbed a side of the tractor and started lifting, but didn’t make progress until about the seventh try. The lift was enough so that Smith could free most of his body except for his arm, which remained pinned.
One of the girls ran to a neighbor’s house. The neighbor was able to use his tractor to move the flipped tractor enough to free Smith’s arm.
Jeff Smith suffered a broken wrist and a tissue compression injury with contusions on his upper arm.
