NHL’s leading scorer, Sidney Crosby, gets a puck to the jaw from a deflected shot by his teammate Brooks Orpik.
The team captain of the Pittsburgh Penguins suffered a broken jaw and knocked out teeth when a slapshot from teammate Brooks Orpik was deflected off of a Ney York Islander defender’s hockey stick. Crosby was not wearing a full face shield. Medical treatment is reported to include surgery and extensive dental work. Fortunately there were no signs of a concussion, which Crosby has experienced twice during the last two seasons.
Penguins won 2-0 on Saturday, but lost Crosby indefinitely.
