Arlington Heights police received a report about 1:08 PM Saturday of a wallet theft at Panera Bread, 5 West Rand Road Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report that offenders removed a white Michael Kohr wallet from an OPEN purse hanging over the BACK of a chair while the victim was seated in the meeting/party room at Panera Bread. The offenders sat directly behind the victim, but had no food or beverages with them and left three minutes later.
The female victims received a call from the bank while she was still at the restaurant, notifying her of attempted fraudulent transactions. The victim remembered two suspicious people that came in the room and sat directly behind her, and left the room without eating.
The subjects were described as (1) a male/black, 50-years-old, 6’0″ 250 LBS, and (2) a female black, 50-years-old, 5′ 140 LBS.
The wallet contained several credit/debit cards, $80 cash and a driver’s license. The credit cards were used for one completed transaction for $30 at a Walmart in Palatine and four attempted transactions for over $11,000 at Target Stores.
The crime is reported to have occurred on Saturday, March 2, 2013 between noon and 1:07 p.m.
