Kevin Chabers, of the 4500 block of Lindbloom Lane, Cherry Valley was charged in Cook County Circuit Court Rolling Meadows with involuntary sexual servitude and human trafficking.
The man is alleged to have enticed a 16-year old girl in October 2012 to work as a prostitute in Arlington Heights. Chabers persuaded her to work as in exchange for food and shelter, while he kept all the money from the transactions.
Chabers advertised the prostitution service on an Internet site and kept a ledger of appointments for customers. In one 24-hour period, the girl had 20 appointments with some clients located as far as Madison, Wisconsin.
Police found the 16-year-old girl, with sex toys and $400 in a motel room. The police agency involved in the arrest was not released.
The 16-year-old female victim was taken into protective custody.
Human Trafficking of victims is described as recruitment, transportation, transfer, harboring or receipt of persons, by means of a threat or use of force or other forms of coercion. The violation of human rights often includes abduction, the fraud, of deception, abuse of power, and a person having control over another person for the purpose of exploitation.
Exploitation includes prostitution, forced labor or other practices similar to slavery.
