A total of 9.5 inches of snow fell as the storm total in Arlington Heights from Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at 6:50 a.m. until Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at 5:00 a.m. The day’s total on Tuesday March 5, 2013 was 9.0 inches.

Snow cover at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday in Arlington Heights was 14.5 inches on grassy areas and unplowed pavement areas. The snow is dry and fluffy with a crunchy layer at the old snow cover depth.

The season to date snowfall total is officially 20.5 inches at O’Hare International Airport, which is 1.2 inches short of the average (21.7 inches). Almost 90 percent of the season’s snowfall has occurred since February 1, 2013.

Yesterday’s snow also broke the record snowfall for the date of March 5, which was 3.8 inches (2002).

At 6:45 a.m. Wednesday radar shows no snow in the northwest suburbs. Yesterday’s storm is already centered over Virginia.
