Arlington Heights police responded about 2:18 PM Saturday to a report of a wallet theft at Portillo’s, 806 West Dundee Road Arlington Heights, IL. A female victim was eating lunch with her purse open and hanging on the back of her chair. A group of three people are believed to be accomplices involved in distraction and the actual theft from the victim. The suspects were described as somewhat aggressive — grabbing the back of two chairs where people were seated in the chairs. Coats were still hanging on the chairs that the suspects demanded and grabbed. The victim and her group felt somewhat threatened by the three subjects.
The suspects also did not order any food as they sat at a table adjacent to the table of the victim and her group.
Two male/black subjects were grabbing the chairs, while a female/black subject was standing behind the victim who reported the missing wallet. The female is suspected of being the offender that actually lifted the wallet out of the purse.
Reported missing was a black wallet, credit cards, bank cards, checks, and a small amount of cash. There were immediate attempts to use the credit cards at Target in Palatine. Attempted charges of over $5,000 were declined.
One subject’s physical description was described as male/black in his 60’s, 5’10” 160 -170 LBS. He had a raspy voice — unknown clothing and was wearing an unknown hat.
The second male subject was described as male/black, 55-years-old, 5’10” with a heavy build — about 220 LBS.
The third subject was described as a female/black 5’7′ fat build with short hair.
The crime is reported to have occurred on February 2, 2013 between 1:30 p.m. and 2:17 p.m.

Pick-pocketing criminal ring in Arlington Heights? Incident is close in proximity on the same day of vandalism at 5 West Rand Road, which is less than 5 minutes away. Can the police department provide a crime prevention bulletin to local businesses and residents? And, provide them with opportunity to attend Beat Meetings? Is there a Crime Prevention Newsletter online? Just some ideas.
