COOK COUNTY, IL – The search for a 22-year-old man suspected of beating and stabbing his mother ended with his arrest in Flossmoor last night, announced Sheriff Thomas J. Dart.
Blake Springsteen was taken into custody Thursday night by the Flossmoor Police Department after receiving a tip he was in the area. He was arrested without incident. The Cook County Sheriff’s Police Department was seeking charges against the Homewood man, and an attempted murder charge for Blake Springsteen has been approved by the State’s Attorneys Office. Springsteen will be in Bond Court tomorrow (Saturday) morning.

Springsteen is suspected of beating his 46-year-old mother in the 3600 block of Flossmoor Road in unincorporated Homewood. He then reportedly bound her, put her in the trunk of a car and drove her to the Village of Crete. There he stabbed her multiple times and left her in a ditch in the 900 block of Columbia Street.
A warrant for his arrest was issued Wednesday and he was taken into custody Thursday evening. The victim remains in stable condition.
