Authorities have identified a man killed in an Indianola crash with a that injured a 5-year-old child and ended a high-speed chase.

CORRECTION: This article originally published incorrectly that an Iowa State Police car was crashed during a pursuit. A police vehicle from a local community was crashed in the pursuit.

Jeremiah Johnson, 33, led police on a high-speed chase early Friday that began in Clive, Iowa when a local police officer tried to pull him over. Also inside the vehicle was his son — missing and endangered since November — 5-year-old Johnnathan E. Johnson. The chase was clocked at speeds of 110 mph. A police road block was set up on Iowa Highway 92 in Indianola using a local police squad. Jeremiah Johns drove into the unoccupied squad car at about 130 mph, and was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash was recorded on a police dash cam in another squad car. Johnnathan was transported to a hospital in critical condition. Police have not confirmed the identity of the child, and have not confirmed his condition. Jeremiah Johnson and the boy’s mother had been in a custody battle regarding Johnnathan.

Indianola, population 14,782, is a city in Warren County, Iowa, and is the county seat of Warren County. Indianaola is about 27 miles from Clive, Iowa — south of Des Moines.
