A truck laden with fireworks exploded on an elevated highway in central China, killing eight people and injuring 13. The force of the blast sent several vehicles plummeting off the road, destroying an 80-meter section of the highway.
A fireworks explosion occurred during heavy fog on the Yihang bridge near the city of Sanmenxia in central Henan province at about 8.52 a.m. Friday, according to the state newswire Xinhua.
About 260 feet of bridge section collapsed tumbling several vehicles almost 100 feet to the ground below.
Three people were killed and eleven people were injured.
