Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 8:26 AM Monday to a report of a fire in a classroom heater at St. Peter School, 111 West Olive Street Arlington Heights, IL. Fire in a heater in a classroom on the east side or Vail Avenue side of the school building.
Police and firefighters arrived on the scene within three minutes. Police reported smoke in the classroom, but no flames visible. Firefighters reported, on arrival, that the building was being evacuated.
Firefighters reported an odor — apparently there were no heavy smoke conditions.
Firefigher/paramedics reported the heater was malfunctioning and was powered off. The problem is resolved and students and teacher were allowed back in the building. Students in the affected classroom were not permitted back in the affected classroom.
No reports of any injuries.
