Arlington Heights police received a report about 5:44 p.m. Wednesday of an attempted residential burglary in the block of 1400 South Highland Avenue, Arlington Heights. Police received a report that an unknown offender or offenders pried open a rear sliding glass door. It does not appear they entered the residence and nothing was missing or disturbed. Officers followed footprints left in the snow from the residence to the sidewalk area just east of Highland at Noyes.
The crime is reported to have occurred on Wednesday Janurary 30, 2013 at 5:44 p.m. The residents were out of the home and received a call from their security system provider alerting them to an active alarm.
Two vehicle burglaries occurred during approximately the same time period in the block of 700 South Highland Avenue.
