The Fire Department of New York says a crane has collapsed at a construction site in the city’s Queens borough, injuring seven people, three of them seriously.
FDNY responded about 2:20 p.m. Wednesday to crane collapse at 46th Avenue and Center Boulevard. The crane toppled at the site of a luxury development Queens West at 46th Ave. and Center Blvd.in Long Island City.
Workers heard cables snap and watched the crane buckle and hit the ground.
Two injured workers were transported to New York-Presbyterian Cornell Hospital and five workers were transported to Elmhurst Hospital Center.
With the popping of cables and the snapping of metal, a 200-foot crane collapsed onto a building under construction near the East River waterfront Wednesday, injuring seven people.
