The Coast Guard says it airlifted a man with heart disease from a sailboat in the stormy Gulf of Mexico to shore in Louisiana. The Coast Guard said officials were called early Thursday about a couple aboard a 64-foot sailboat bound for Houston.
A US Coast Guard helicopter from Mobile, Alabama responded to a report of a cardiac emergency with a male victim on a sailboat. The crew discovered a couple on the sailboat, transferred the couple from the sailboat to the sea surface, and then separately hoisted the male victim and a female up to the helicopter. The crew then transported the couple to a Coast Guard station near New Orleans. The male victims was transported to a medical clinic and was reported to be in stable condition.
