Buffalo Grove police responded about 12:09 PM Friday received a report of suspicious men in the area of the Panera Bread, 1224 West Dundee Road. Panera Bread received a call from a customer that reported that two men tried to take her wallet. The female victim was confronted by two males who tried to take her wallet in the parking lot in front of Panera Bread. The woman got away from the men and when home. For some reason the woman also called the police desk at Buffalo Grove Police Department, instead of 9-1-1. She was instructed to return to the scene to meet with police.
Buffalo Grove police were on the scene at Panera Bread within two minutes. The offenders were described as two male/black subjects — one heavyset.
About 12:30 p.m. at least one of the male subjects was spotted near Aldi’s in the same shopping center as Panera Bread. Another witness also reported seeing the offender. Police had a subject detained by 12:35 p.m. No word on any arrest or charges.
Two male/black subjects — one heavyset — were involved in a purse robbery at Panera Bread near Rand Road and Arlington Heights Road yesterday. The subjects from Arlington Heights attempted to use a credit at Walmart at 930 Mount Prospect Plaza to charge $1800 worth of merchandise, but were declined.
