Lincolnshire police arrested Matthew R. Sanders, 17, of the 0-100 block of Debill Court in Vernon Hills, on December 11, 2012 after police and firefighters were called to the Stevenson High School to treat a female student who overdosed on an anti-anxiety drug. Sanders allegedly had been selling drugs near campus from his car, according to police.
Sanders was charged as an adult with delivery of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of cannabis, according to police.
The female student was treated and released at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. The overdose victim has not been arrested or charged. The female student told police she got the anti-anxiety drug from Sanders. Investigators observed Sanders’ Cadillac Eldorado with no occupant as it was parked at a nearby train station. When Sanders arrived at the vehicle, police report they searched the vehicle and found 13 grams of marijuana and 39 anti-anxiety pills. Police also report they discovered and seized $300.
Sanders was released from Lake County jail after posting 10 percent ($500) of a $5,000 bond. Regarding school discipline, Sanders could face suspension, transfer to an alternative school program or expulsion for violations involving illegal drugs or controlled substances.
