VIDEO: Arcing power lines started wet grass on fire, but the electric problem was solved by Com Ed within about 90 minutes.
Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 9:30 AM Saturday a downed power line in the 2800 block of North Kennicott Avenue. Firefighters reported arcing and burning grass and requested Com Ed respond to the scene.
A downed power line occurred where power lines are placed between houses on the west side of Kennicott Avenue. The arcing was generated just a few feet from the front sidewalk.
Kennicott Avenue was blocked until Com Ed repaired the line. Com Ed arrived about 9:49 a.m.
Several house were without power. Also some business along Dundee Road had some power disturbances with activated alarms. Xsport Fitness reported a smell of electrical burning in the basketball gym area.
