Arlington Heights police responded about 9:25 AM Thursday to a report of fraudulent activity at Barnes & Noble Booksellers, 13 West Rand Road. Police received a report that a female Hispanic subject about 30-years-old attempted to use a counterfeit $100 bill to buy a paperback book. The Store manager became suspicious of the large bill being used to purchase such a small purchase. The woman also matched the description of a subject described in other attempts at passing counterfeit bills at other Barnes & Noble stores.
The woman promptly left, leaving the counterfeit $100 bill at Barnes & Noble. She left the area before police arrived. The woman was described as a female/Hispanic, about 30-years-old, wearing blue jeans.
