Police on Thursday said two brothers, ages 2 and 4, who were swept away Monday night when waves of water crashed into an SUV driven by their mother in Staten Island were found dead.
A mother headed out of New York on Monday with her two son’s, Brandon Moore and Connor Moore, hoping to reach a safer neighborhood at her sister’s house in Brooklyn. Instead she got caught in a storm surge from the Atlantic Ocean that experts estimate was about 10 feet high. The three tried to escape the flood water that stalled the SUV . In the force of the rushing water the mother lost her hold of the two boys and they were swept away. She began to search for them on her own, but the boys weren’t found until today when numerous emergency personnel went to work with search and rescue efforts through a Staten Island marshland. The boy’s bodies were found at the end of a dead end street about 100 feet apart from each other.
