Arlington Heights police responded about 9:32 PM Friday to a report of reckless driving, possible DUI on southbound Arlington Heights Road near Northwest Highway. Police received a report that a driver was noticed, starting at about Oakton Street, swerving and stopping inappropriately in the southbound lanes of Arlington Heights Road.
At Euclid Avenue, the driver of dark-colored or black Volkswagen Passat did not proceed when the light turned green. At Miner Street and at Oakton Street, the driver stopped for a second for a green light. The driver was also observed hitting the right curb and almost hit a car in the right lane while driving in the left lane. Police caught up with the vehicle at about White Oak and followed the vehicle as it pulled into the Jewel-Osco parking lot from Golf Road.
Police reported the arrest of a man for a narcotics charge, and transported him to Arlington Heights Police Department Headquarters. The driver Volkswagen Passat was towed to a police holding area.
