Arlington Heights police received a report Wednesday of a diversion burglary in the 1400 block of Russell Court near Algonquin Road and South New Wilke Road.* Police received a report that an offender went to the front door and knocked. The complainant thought there were going to be kids on the porch Trick or Treating for Halloween, but instead she was confronted by an offender who pushed open the front door and entered the residence, while stating he was related to the neighbors next-door and that he needed a glass of water. He also said the water next-door was not working. The complainant and her husband walked back to the kitchen with the offender to get a glass of water. The offender eventually moved quickly toward the front door and the complainant saw three other offenders coming from the hallway that connects to the bedrooms. All four offenders entered a small vehicle parked in the driveway and left the area. The complainants checked the house and found two bedrooms had signs that the offenders searched through dressers and closets. It does not appear any property is missing. The offenders were inside the house less than five minutes.
The crime is reported to have occurred at 7:30 p.m.
The offenders were described as follows:
#1 Male medium/dark skin tone – approximately 60-years-old.
#2, #3 and #4 were male subjects with medium/dark skin tone – approx. 40-years-old.
