Palatine police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 9:00 AM Thursday to an automatic fire alarm and discovered smoke at the Palatine Township Hall, 721 South Quentin Road. Firefighter/paramedics reported a light haze and had a little difficulty finding the source of the smoke. Firefighters were checking the furnace and a storeroom as possible sources.
The building was evacuated immediately after firefighters discovered the smoke. The situation was under control by about 9:20 a.m. with some fire crews released from the scene, and people allowed to return to the building.
