Arlington Heights firefighter/paramedics and Illinois State Police responded about 9:15 AM Tuesday to a multi-injury crash in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 90. The crash involved four cars and a yellow box truck. Vehicles were scattered across all lanes. A blue subcompact car was heavy damaged and was possibly hit in the rear-end by a yellow box truck.
Four ambulances were called to the scene. One fatality was reported, but no other details are available about the conditions of the other crash victims. Michael Raymond, 60, of Long Grove was killed in the crash. Raymond was transported to Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village, where he was pronounced dead at 9:43 AM.
Two vehicles had very minor damage. At least two people that did not appear to be injured remained at the scene after all ambulances had left.
Firefighter/paramedics from Arlington Heights (first due to the scene), Elk Grove Township, Elk Grove Village and Rolling Meadows all transported victims to Northwest Community Hospital and Alexian Brothers Medical Center.
Some extrication was involved at the crash scene, using a portable Hurst tool spreader/cutter.
All lanes were blocked for a while with traffic diverted to the Arlington Heights Road exit ramp. Some lanes were blocked until about 2:00 p.m. while an Illinois State Police Accident Investigation (AI) Team worked at the scene.
