Arlington Heights police responded about 12:32 AM Sunday to a report of a reckless driver, possible DUI driver, on eastbound Central Road from Arlington Heights Road. Police received a report that a reckless driver/possible DUI driver made a wide turn from westbound Golf Road to northbound Arlington Heights Road. The driver almost hit a vehicle in the northbound left lane of Arlington Heights Road during the turn. The driver then turned eastbound on Central Road after hitting the curb several times. The driver turned right from the center lane of Central Road to southbound Busse Road and crossed the center line and drove on the shoulder several times while southbound on Busse Road.
Mount Prospect police responded from downtown Mount Prospect, and eventually caught up with the vehicle — a white Nissan Sentra. The vehicle was spotted by police on southbound Busse in southern Mount Prospect. The vehicle turned westbound to Oakton Street, and was stopped just east of the intersection with Lively Boulevard in Elk Grove Village.
Shortly after the traffic stop, the driver was arrested for DUI. The driver’s vehicle was towed to a police holding area. The driver was transported in custody to Mount Prospect Police Department Headquarters.
