“I have no idea what this guy’s doing” and “This is getting old.” That’s the reaction of one bike rider when a man in a Ford Explorer followed two cyclists for about five minutes on Colorado 52 while blaring his horn.
Two men went out for a bike ride last Sunday on Colorado 52 east of Longmont, Colorado. An SUV approached from behind and the two cyclists changed formation to single file. The driver blared on his own and paced behind the bike riders for about five minutes. One of the cyclists captured a cell phone video of the incident, documented the Colorado license plate 893 EKG, and submitted the information to the Colorado State Patrol.
The video went viral to over 263,000 on September 21, 2012 after being posted on September 16, 2012.
The Colorado State Patrol announced Thursday that James Ernst was issued a citation for harassment (two charges), impeding the flow of traffic/minimum speed regulation and improper use of a horn or warning device.
