Firefighters check a building to make sure that a fire in a nearby tree didn’t spread to a commercial building on South Arthur Avenue.
Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 10:09 PM Thursday to a report of a house set on fire by teens behind the 900 block of South McKinley Avenue. Police were first on the scene and reported that a tree and mulch were set on fire. Police were updated that two teens age 17-20 year-old were believed to have set the fire. One subject was wearing a short sleeve shirt and shorts. The suspects possibly cut back through to McKinley from Arthur Avenue and possibly headed south on Arthur Avenue.
The lot with the tree and mulch set on fire was a commercial lot with a commercial building next to the burning tree. Firefighters checked the building to make sure that no fire spread to the building.
