Each year, members of Schaumburg Professional Firefighters Association IAFF Local 4092, host a one day Charity Softball Event. The event raises more than $40,000 for several local charities. The event is held today, September 15, 2012 at 8:30 a.m. at Campanelli Park and at 9:00 a.m. at Olympic Park.
The impressive financial achievement is made possible through the many contributions from businesses, individuals, and 33 other Locals that take part in the event.
All money raised is donated in its entirety to charity. The two primary beneficiaries include the Loyola University Burn Center and the Schaumburg Township Food Pantry. The burn center receives a check for $25,000 to be used for the more efficient and comfortable care of their patients. The Schaumburg Township receives $5,000 just in time for the holidays. Another $5,000 is spent by members of the 4092 to sponsor 12 families in the Christmas gift giving program.
The event takes place on the second Saturday after Labor Day, which this year is September 15, 2012. First Round Match-ups begin at 8:30 am at Campanelli Park and 9:00 am at Olympic Park. The day is also accompanied by food, raffles, and a silent auction. The event is open to the public and all are welcome to join the festivities.
