Prospect Heights police reported about 1:50 am. Sunday that they were in a pursuit of a minivan eastbound Piper Lane and then westbound Piper Lane. Police reported the pursuit passed a public works facility on Piper Lane westbound, cut through a business parking lot and continued northbound on Wolf Road. One person immediately bailed on police near Piper Lane and was last seen on foot westbound on Piper Lane. The subject was described as bald and wearing a white T-shirt.
The vehicle blew a stop sign at Pine Crest while the pursuit was reported under 40 mph. As the vehicle approached Hintz Road the vehicle made a hard left on Fox Lane and crashed into brush in an open field at the northwest corner of Fox Lane and Wolf Road at about 1:53 a.m.
A female driver bailed out of the minivan and fled the crash scene on foot. Police set up a search area and perimeter with Wheeling police assisting. K-9 units also responded to the scene from Wheeling and Palatine. Palatine K-9 was later called off.
About 2:36 a.m. Prospect Heights police were contacted by a neighbor nearby who believed he heard something in his garage. Police checked the garage in case the suspect was hiding in the garage. Within two minutes the female/driver was arrested and in custody. Charges include possibly fleeing and eluding and DUI. The suspect was transported in custody to Prospect Heights Police Department.
