Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 5:07 a.m. to the 700 block of South McKinley Avenue to a report of a garbage can and mail box on fire in front of the residence.
Cars were nearby, but were not affected by flames, according to the initial dispatch report.
Recently (July 1, 2012 through July 5, 2012), criminal damage to property and vehicles has been reported in the neighborhood, including the 500 block of South Chestnut Avenue (picture window shattered with pellet gun), 800 block of South McKinley Avenue (seven mailboxes damaged with a heavy solid object — possibly a baseball bat), 900 block of NORTH Dryden (front coach light knocked off base), and the 900 block of North Haddow Avenue (criminal damage to vehicle tail light).
A few weeks ago a tail light was damaged in the 600 block of North Douglas overnight (June 25, 2012), and a landscaping rock was thrown through the window of a vehicle in the 500 block of East Hawthorne Street (May 30, 2012).
