A southwest breeze of hot air is expected to overpower a lake breeze in the Chicago area bringing hot temperatures in the upper 90’s in our area Monday and Tuesday. Heat index temperatures are expected to reach 98°F to 100°F on Monday and just over 100°F on Tuesday. A heat index of 105°F brings a heat advisory, which has been activated Monday and Tuesday for many parts of Wisconsin — even as far south as Lake Geneva and Kenosha.
A USG (Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups) Action Day alert is activated for Monday, July 16, 2012. Members of sensitive groups may experience health effects. The general public is not likely to be affected, according to the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency.
