VIDEO: A man arrested after Best Buy suspected him of attempting to steal items from the Best Buy store.
Arlington Heights police responded about 2:59 p.m. Saturday to a report of a theft in progress at Best Buy, 615 E. Palatine Road. Police received a report that a man was suspected of attempting to steal items from Best Buy. The offender was described as a male/white in his 20’s wearing a white and blue sweater. He was attempting to leave the store, and then ran toward Rand Road. He got in to a red unknown 4-door vehicle, and attempted to flee in the vehicle.
One police officer stopped the vehicle in front of Dick’s Sporting Goods near the AT&T store within two minutes of dispatch.
Police were also made aware of a female/white subject that was with the male subject. The female was not in the vehicle, but was walking in the parking lot. She was also met by police, questioned and investigated.
Police transported the male subject in custody to Arlington Heights Police Department Headquarters. Police transported the female subject — not in custody — to Arlington Height Police Department Headquarters.
No word on exact charges or the reason for the arrest. Police also thoroughly searched the subject’s vehicle. It is unknown if the arrest was related to theft, or the result of the vehicle or personal search of the suspect, or something else.
Readers are reminded that arrest or investigation of a subject does not mean that the subject was guilty of crime. The suspect is not guilty until convicted in a court of law.
